The Earth Receives Us (2026)
The Earth Receives Us is an immersive sound installation that reimagines death as an ecological transformation rather than an end. Visitors lie in a nest of hay while a voice guides them through the process of dying. In this process, the boundary between body and environment dissolves. Through the work of microbes, the body decomposes and returns to the earth, becoming a source for new life. In this way, death does not make us disappear, but continues an ecological cycle: the earth receiving us back into its ongoing cycle of life.Composed by Niels Vermeulen
